State of the Vogue Community Forum Set for October 27
Vogue Restoration Capital Campaign to be Announced
Manistee, Michigan – A transformational project that has captured the hearts, minds and energy of over 500 volunteers and donors unlike any other in the Manistee county area will be the focus of a “State of the Vogue” community forum to be held at Manistee’s Ramsdell Theatre on October 27 from 6-8 p.m.
“The purpose is straightforward,” said David Mix, member of the Vogue Theatre Capital Campaign. “We will bring everyone up to date on what has happened and what is planned and expected. We will also announce the formal beginning of the Vogue Restoration Capital Campaign and report to the community on the status of fundraising and the expected timeframe for reopening the doors of our magnificent community theater.”
“The evening will be fast paced and energizing because there’s a lot of ground to cover,” said Cyndy Fuller, chair of the Board of the Historic Vogue Theatre of Manistee, the recently created nonprofit that is overseeing the restoration process. “Our colleagues from the State Theatre in Traverse City will be joining us to talk about the challenges and successes involved with that project and we also hope to include the presence of Michael Moore who helped get the project off the ground in February 2011.”
“We’re encouraging everyone who has an interest in the Vogue and the greater Manistee area, including our downtown, to join us,” said Steve Brower, chair of the Vogue Theatre Capital Campaign. “This event will help get everyone on the same page with where we are, where we are going and how they can help. And I’m sure we’ll have a few surprises to announce as well.”
The process to restore the Vogue Theatre began in February 2011 following the purchase of the property by the Manistee Downtown Development Authority. On February 9, Academy award-winning film producer and author Michael Moore helped launch the restoration with a pledge of assistance, following the successful restoration and reopening of the State Theatre in Traverse City that has been credited with having a dramatic impact on the local economy.
