John C. Reilly attends National Opening of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ at the Vogue

August 18, 2014/in Movies/by vogue

A little bit of Hollywood will be gracing the Vogue Theatre in Downtown Manistee this Friday evening. For the opening night of Marvel’s new blockbuster film ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, veteran actor and part-time-Manistee-area-resident John C. Reilly – who stars in the film – will be in attendance to see the film and have a discussion with the audience afterwards.

Reilly, an Oscar-nominated actor and Grammy-nominated musician who has appeared in more than 50 feature films over the last 25 years, plays Corpsman Rhomman Dey who – according to Reilly on a recent appearance on the Dave Letterman show – “arrests the heroes of the film, putting them together for the first time”. Reilly is featured prominently in one of the film’s trailers, and the clip shown on Letterman reveals that Reilly was able to utilize his comedic chops in the movie.

It was revealed on his Letterman appearance that Reilly has not yet had the opportunity to see the finished film, and will be seeing it for the first time at the Vogue with some friends and family also attending.

Reilly is familiar with the Vogue Theatre, as he held a fundraising concert for the revitalization project in June of 2013 with his folk band “John Reilly & Friends”.

After Friday’s screening, Reilly will take questions from the audience on-stage.

“We’re very appreciative of John being at the Vogue for this,” says Travis Alden, Theatre Manager at the Vogue. “‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ is opening at almost 4,000 screens nationwide on Friday. Out of all of those, he’s choosing to be at the Vogue. That’s really special.”

Early critical reviews of the film have been outstanding, with the film scoring a 93% “fresh” rating currently on film review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Tickets are now available for purchase for this special event – but they are going fast!

The Historic Vogue Theatre of Manistee is a 501c3 non-profit organization and operated 7 days a week, 365 days a year in beautiful downtown Manistee. For more information and for showtimes, please visit www.voguetheatremanistee.org.
