The Historic Vogue Theatre of Manistee (HVTM), a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit cinema located in downtown Manistee, has announced that Travis Alden, the Vogue’s Executive Manager, has accepted a new position outside of the area and will step down from his post effective February 19, 2016.
“The Vogue has been a passion project of mine since the beginning, so it will be very tough to leave,” Alden said. “It truly exemplifies that great things can happen with enough encouragement, determination, collaboration and vision. I could not be more proud of what we have accomplished here.”
Alden is working with Vogue staff and Board members on transition plans to ensure that Theatre operations continue uninterrupted and will be heavily involved with the HVTM Board of Directors in developing a three-year strategic plan for the organization, a project that began in late 2015.
“Travis has been a cornerstone of the Vogue effort, from the initial stages to the grand opening and the successful operation over the last two years – we will surely miss him,” says Mary Russell, a member of the HVTM Board’s Executive Committee , Personnel Committee and long-time Vogue volunteer. “But we have a great staff, passionate volunteers and a committed Board who will all make sure everything runs smoothly until this key leadership role is filled. We wish Travis all the best in his exciting new endeavor.”
Since opening its doors in December 2013, after a multi-year capital campaign and construction project, the Vogue Theatre has welcomed nearly 120,000 ticketed patrons through its doors – helping fulfill the promise of becoming an economic catalyst in the Manistee community. The Theatre has been consistently profitable and was named the ‘2015 Small Business of the Year’ by the Manistee Area Chamber of Commerce.
“This town has been incredibly good to me and my family and we’ve been fortunate to call Manistee home for the past seven years,” Alden said. “However, this new position is an exciting opportunity for me. The Vogue is in good hands.”
Alden will become President of the Barry County Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development Alliance, located in Hastings, Michigan.
